I haven’t been particularly pleased with the rise in gas prices as it also affects airline prices. Some of our summer plans will be a go regardless - college visits, a trip to NYC, and family visits. However, I’ve been rethinking some of the other trips we had already planned. There was a huge international trip to the Netherlands and Ireland, a trip to Epcot in Orlando, and a possible trip to Paris. That is a lot of flying far away from Denver. What to do - As driving cross-country is now not really that much cheaper of an option.
Enter the “staycation” or rather exploring new areas and places in your home city or nearby. Honestly, I was dreading having to do research on the internet to find places, read reviews, etc, etc. Then I remembered, we have our Rhythm and Roam Trips App! This is perfect for this situation - let’s see what it comes up with.
If you remember, we first launched the app back at the end of March. It's been about 45 days and we are still working through some of the kinks. Please, when you use the app, shoot us a message with feedback so we can smooth all the glitches out. I myself encountered a couple of glitches trying to create my free itinerary - so we welcome and need your feedback!
I entered in Colorado Springs as both my starting and destination city and selected that I would not be needing lodging. I expressed interest in local culture, food tours, and museums. I also added a note highlighting that I live in the city and was looking to do a "staycation" to explore new places and fun activities. The selections I needed to make to generate my itinerary were all pretty straightforward and the results were quite interesting.....

Five of the ten recommended restaurants, I had not heard of and I have lived here over three years. Definitely I need to get out more. I did not know at all that there was a Winery and an Abbey about an hour southwest of the city. Maybe I’d heard something about an Abbey from some person, somewhere, at some point in time, lol, but that information did not stick with me. So that is a must do in the next couple of weeks.
The app also recommended places that I really should’ve already been to, like the Olympic and Paralympic Museum and Training Center. Overall I’m pleased and have several new restaurants to try and locations to check out. I plan to create a separate itinerary for Denver and see what comes up. Because there are so many selections to choose from inside the app, the results are almost limitless as far as variations in itineraries. I see this as a fun way to find new places to explore locally and perhaps save a few dollars on gas, if possible. It certainly gives me inspiration and locations on which to do further research should I so desire. And that is one of the goals of this app - to keep people inspired and dreaming about travel. Give it a try and let us know what you think!
